1. OUR FIRST NEWSLETTER

You suggested it and here it is! We heard from quite a number of people who suggested we use a regular newsletter to communicate new features, upcoming enhancements, and other MailSnare information. If you have suggestions, drop us a note at support@mailsnare.net.

2. VISUAL OFFICE 4.0 LAUNCHES

We are pleased to announce the initial launch of the VisualOffice 4.0 web-mail interface. Before we jump into the details, rest assured that the existing Horde/IMP web-mail interface is here to stay! We like to give people choices. You will be able to use either interface or switch back-and-forth to suit your needs. So, how do you access VisualOffice? Simply point your browser to:

https://webmail.mailsnare.net

We know that VisualOffice looks quite a bit different and functions somewhat differently than the existing Horde/IMP interface, so we are working on a completely new "Help Central" that we will be constantly expanding to answer your questions. Of course, you can always ask us questions directly at support@mailsnare.net or visit our user forum at http://www.mailsnare.net/forum

3. WHAT IS COMING?

After launching VisualOffice, we will be spending some time working behind the scenes. Besides adding a few additional servers to our infrastructure, we will be implementing SMTP Authentication, SSL over SMTP, and upgrading software. Of course, we will continue to address minor fixes and improvements to both web-mail interfaces as we move through the rest of the year. Early next year we will be adding VisualMessenger, a web-based Instant Messenger that will work with ICQ, MSN IM, and other VisualMessenger users.

4. NEW PRICING AND ACCOUNT PLANS

We have had many questions regarding the pricing changes we made a little over a month ago. We will try to answer the most common questions below:

Is the old $14.95 account considered an Enhanced Account?

Yes. The only difference is in the initial amount of storage space (35MB vs. 50MB) and the number of aliases (2 vs. 5).

Can I upgrade from the $14.95 plan to the Enhanced Account?

Yes. Under a special offer, you can upgrade for $2.50 from within the user Control Panel. This will buy you an additional 3 aliases and 15MB of storage but will not lengthen your subscription.

Will the $14.95 plan ever return?

Yes. We listen very carefully to our customers feedback and one of the things we heard loud and clear was that many people thought the $14.95 plan was just the right size. Starting November 1 of this year, we begin offering both the $14.95 and the $19.95 plan.

Will you continue to offer the 5-year $9.95 Basic Account indefinitely?

Yes and No. We have decided to make the $9.95 5-year account a promotional offering. The means it will not be one of our regular offerings but we may bring it back from time-to-time. We will discontinue the current $9.95 promotion November 1 of this year.

Do you have any other surprises planned?

We are constantly looking at the market and the demands of our customers. While we do not anticipate changing the $14.95 or $19.95 plans, you may see the addition of some new packages targeted toward the high-end user and small businesses. We do not yet have any details or an associated for these new offerings.

5. POLICY CHANGE REGARDING SAFELISTS

Existing accounts will not be impacted by this policy change. However, we may ask existing customers who subscribe to safelists to move their accounts to one of our dedicated servers at some point in the future .

Safelists subscriptions require excessive server resources and account for a large portion of all mail traffic moving through our system. Rather than allow this type of traffic to negatively impact the future performance of our system, we have decided to take a proactive approach. We will no longer support safelist subscriptions with any new accounts.
